Danielle Roberts<< BACK
Professionally, Danielle is a qualified chef (1997) through the Christina Martin School of Food working in the Cape and in the UK for 7 years. But it was her passion for creating healthy delicious foods and a keen interest to learn more about the details of nutrition that lead her to study a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal in 2004 to 2006. Thereafter, she has been working as a registered dietician in hospitals, in the food industry and in private practice.
Danielle has worked in rural hospitals in KZN, namely Addington, King Edward and Estcourt Hospitals for a period of 2 years. She then moved into the private hospital sector, working for catering companies designing menus, training hospital staff and ensuring patients get given the correct diet for their in-hospital needs. In 2009 Danielle decided to open a private practice which she is currently operating, as well as consulting with various corporate companies on health and wellness days, and working as the Sharks Rugby team Nutritionist.
The link between healthy eating and a healthy body has always been a part of her life. She danced ballet for 16 years and was accepted into the Ballet School (Cape Town) but turned it down to rather pursue her studies. Since then, swimming, paddling, the odd triathlon and running is what keeps her going. She has found that performance in any sport (and daily life) reaches its peak when diet is corrected for your specific needs to provide you with the energy to put your most into every day and to achieve optimal health.
‘You are what you eat’ is a motto she believes in. Good nutrition as part of your daily lifestyle helps create peak physical form and better health. Eating correctly for your body can get you to your goals; whether it be weight loss, increased lean muscle mass, improved athletic or mental performance, better energy levels, decreased cholesterol or stable sugar levels to name a few.
