FUTURELIFE® HIGH PROTEIN BRAN HEALTH RUSKS

Bran rusks

INGREDIENTS:

  • 3 cups FUTURELIFE® Bran Flakes with Probiotic Sachets (do not include the HOWARU® Premium Probiotic sachets, rather enjoy separately in milk, yoghurt or a smoothie)
  • 1kg self-rising flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup FUTURELIFE® HIGH PROTEIN Smart food™
  • 1tsp salt
  • 500ml Buttermilk
  • 1¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup sunflower seeds
  • 1 cup wheat/oat bran
  • 1 cup raisins
  • ¼ cup sesame seeds
  • ¼ cup flax seeds
  • ½ cup coconut shavings
  • ¼ cup pecan nuts finely chopped
  • ½ cup FUTURELIFE® CRUNCH Smart food™
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • ¼ cup raisins
  • ½ cup seed and nut mixture

METHOD:

  1. Mix all the dry ingredients together.
  2. Combine the wet ingredients and add to dry ingredients. Mix everything together until well combined. Place in a large bread tin and bake for 60 minutes at 180 degrees.
  3. Check if with a thin object in the centre of the bake to ensure that it comes out clean. If not, bake for an extra 5-10 minutes. Let the bake cool down before cutting in rectangles. Place the rectangles on a baking tray about 1cm apart from each other and place it back into the oven at 100 degrees to dry over night or until completely dry. This time will vary from oven to oven but can take up to 6-8 hours.
